Célébrer!
The assignment we were given was to create a mother of the bride gown for a wedding. We had to come up with our wedding theme and then make a dress accordingly.
The inspiration for this assignment came from the idea of a wedding being a celebration of two families, rich in culture and personality, rather than just a union. The bride would wear an extravagant ivory gown, drenched in lace, bedding, and texture, while voluminous in shape. The guests would wear exactly what their personalities demanded of them: sequins, tulle, shoulder pads! More is better!

My initial drape with front bust darts and fisheye darts, both on the front and back.
Basting the two layers of tulle to the "fashion fabric" muslin layer to attach.
Understitching all three layers' seam allowances to the inner lining of the dress at the neckline.
Attaching an invisible zipper to the outer fashion fabric's side seam.
Inner lining, outer fashion fabric, and both layers of tulle are attached at neckline, understitched, and pressed.
Whip stitching the lining layer to the invisible zipper panels.
Attaching all the gathers to the hem of the outermost layer of tulle.
After gathering 4 strips of tulle, I placed them in a spiral and hand sewed it to an 8"x 8" piece of tulle (for stabilization).
Left side view: The flower was then hand sewn through all layers, besides the lining, to the dress.
Right side view: The flower was then hand sewn through all layers, besides the lining, to the dress.
The flower was stoned with over 100 small black stones and 6 larger sew-in clear crystals in the center.
Attaching the small black stones and large clear crystals with E6000.
The final dress fitted on the custom padded mannequin.
